Physical and chemical properties
White crystalline solid. Melting point 42.5-43 °C , 25°C , saturation vapor pressure 2.4X10-3Pa, 25 °C  water solubility 2mg / L, propanol 650g / L, benzene 190g / L, xylene 400mg / L, methanol 45g / L.
Industrial product has the odor like kerosene or turpentine. Insoluble in water, well soluble in benzene and ether.
Toxicity: Acute oral LD50, male rats 163mg/kg; female rats 135mg/kg. Acute dermal LD50 for free about 2000mg/kg. Chlorpyrifos is moderately pesticide. Mild irritation of eyes, significant irritation of skin. Prolong exposure will cause burn. No teratogenic, mutagenic and carcinogenic with test dose. Can be detoxified quickly in animal body. High toxicity to fish and aquatic animals. Toxic to bees.
Features: Chlorpyrifos has tag out, stomach toxicity and fumigation effect. It has short residue on leaf but long in soil. So it has good control of soil pests and phytotoxicity on tobacco.
Application scope: Suitable for chewing and sucking pests on rice, wheat, cotton, fruit trees, vegetables and tea. It is also suitable for city pests, such as 1% Shennong cockroach bait.
Matters need attention
1. No mixture with alkali pesticides. Avoid to use it during anthesis to protect bees.
2. Stop using before harvest.
3. Go to hospital for treatment when poisoned and inject atropine.
